Team in Training

This year I am embarking on a new adventure with Team in Training, which is the fundraising arm of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). In this program I have chosen the cycling event, and in June I am going to ride a bicycle for twice my age in miles around Lake Tahoe (that's 100 miles in case y'all thought I was younger!) Please read below for background on how leukemia and lymphoma has impacted my family, and as you do, please consider making a donation to my fundraising campaign. I must raise $2500 to make the team, but my personal goal is $5000 (yes, disease does not understand today's economics…plus I figure if I can bike twice my age I can raise twice the money!), and your contribution in ANY amount counts toward my goal.

I'm very committed to this cause and also to Multiple Sclerosis since they have both challenged my immediate family in a big way (my father died last year and had MS for 30 yrs, my sister has MS at age 51, my younger brother died of leukemia at the age of 11 (I was 14)…BTW, I'm sure an MS ride is in my near future!) Somehow, I have been given a healthy body and I plan to use it for some good while it holds out.

The easiest (and most eco-friendly) way to donate is to use the link below to donate online quickly and securely. You can also learn more about my progress if you are interested (my third training ride was 25 miles last weekend in the Los Altos/Palo Alto hills. And those fancy clip-in shoes…I've fallen over three times!) Though I was an avid cyclist in my 20s, I'm having to relearn everything almost from scratch since all the equipment has changed dramatically from back then, plus I don't seem to be quite as agile as I remember…go figure!.

You will receive a confirmation of your donation by email and I will be notified as soon as you make your donation. If you can help at all I would really appreciate it. Just click on the link below to go to my Team in Training Web Page.

Each donation helps accelerate finding a cure for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. More than 823,000 Americans are battling these blood cancers. I am hoping that my participation in Team In Training will help bring them hope and support.

On behalf of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, thank you very much for your support. I greatly appreciate your generosity.

P.S. I would appreciate it if you would forward the URL for my Team in Training web page to as many people as you can to encourage them to donate as well. Thanks again.

All my best,
Emily
