English Seminar: "The Devil is in the Details"

In my first semester Senior English seminar, we read the following books:

  • Postcards from the Edge by Carrie Fisher
  • Our Story Begins by Tobias Wolff
  • Catch-22 by Joseph Heller
  • When Harry Met Sally by Nora Ephron

This course focused on irony and satire in literature.

   

Menlo School Chorus Events

26 Nov 2009

I have been in chorus at Menlo School, part of the Creative Arts Department, starting in May 2005 as one of the Women's Chorus, and then being chosen for the Select Mixed Chorus starting 2008. During my senior year (2009-2010), we will have one of our busiest performance years ever.

The Menlo School Chorus is directed by Karen Linford.

British Literature

In 11th grade I took AP British Literature, with Ms. Patty Welze.

We read the following:

  • Persuasion by Jane Austen
  • Beowulf
  • Sir Gawain and the Green Knight
  • Hamlet by William Shakespeare
  • The Sonnets by William Shakespeare
  • Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte

My essays on Beowulf and Jane Eyre are attached.

Ms. Welze has also written one of my teacher recommendations.

Community Service at the Museum of American Heritage

MOAH is a Palo Alto museum with the theme "Creating innovators of the future through inventions of the past". My family has been helping the museum for over seven years, and my father is on the Education Task Force.

Profile of MOAH

We combine elements of history, technology and design to illustrate the evolution of technology, how and why it has influenced society from inception to the current time, and a glimpse of future expectations.
